AH&MA'S HITIS Posts Completed Standards On Web Site - HITIS Completes Standards Conversion to XML
Washington, July 10, 2000 - Fifteen standards for posting devices, remote devices, and central reservations systems developed by the Hospitality Industry Technology Integration Standards (HITIS) project are available for public review at www.hitis.org or through a link from the American Hotel & Motel Association's (AH&MA) Web site, www.ahma.com.
Model files also are available, as well as XML (eXtensible Markup Language), DTDs (Data Type Definitions), and Schemas, which allow the standards to be used in transactions via the Internet. The CD-based standards are available in three formats, HTML, MS/Word, and PDF. AH&MA also has developed a CD-ROM linking all the standards to a common data dictionary with global search capabilities.
In addition, AH&MA has submitted the 15 HITIS standards for ANSI (American National Standards Institute) accreditation.
HITIS is an AH&MA-led program that has brought together software developers, hoteliers, and hospitality consultants to develop a common set of data elements and messaging for computer interfaces within the hospitality industry. For more information, contact Bob Elliott, chairman of the HITIS Advisory Committee and AH&MA vice president of engineering, codes, and standards, at (202) 289-3190 or send an e-mail to belliott@ahma.com.
